Brian Riley is an interdisciplinary artist who creates paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographic-based artwork. He completed his BFA degree from Cooper Union in 1995. His work has been showcased in different galleries and institutions, including MOSS N.Y., Paris Photo, The Holden Luntz Gallery, The Berlin Photo Festival, Gateway Project Space in Newark, N.J., numerous national and international art fairs, and The International Photography Museum of St. Louis. Brian's work has been published in various forms in both the United States and Europe.

I create art to express how I perceive and experience the world around me. My work typically consists of series that can last days or span decades. I use various mediums such as drawings, paintings, photographs, objects, and experiences to balance the ever-fluctuating present moment.

For the past 30 years, I have followed my creativity as it ebbs and flows, creating and destroying in equal measure. This elusive and inspiring creative energy, which is accessible to all human beings, drives me to make art.

As an artist, I draw from this stream of creativity, process it through my life experiences, and present it to others through my work. Although I cannot control where my art lands or whom it affects, I am aware that the art I make asks me questions such as: Who am I? What is this time I am in? How can I manifest ideas that lead to the positive growth of things outside myself?

As a maker, I strive to create something that is not born of ego but rather of the heart.
