LOW BACK PAIN...

Today I want to talk about a common low back pain issue for men and how Massage Cupping can help.

The Sacroiliac Joint or SI joint is the joint in the pelvis between the sacrum and the ilium, which are joined by strong ligaments. The joint is a weight transferral joint with irregular elevations and depressions that produce interlocking of the two bones. The human body has two sacroiliac joints, one on the right, one on the left. Sacroiliac joints are paired C-shaped or L-shaped joints capable of a small amount of movement.

In normal activity the movement of our lower body is supposed to come from our hips. When constrictions in the connective tissue of the body and tightness in the muscles decrease this mobility, movements can be transferred into other areas… Enter, The SI JOINT.

The SI Joint has little movement and when just enough is added past what it likes off it goes into a pain cycle.

Often localized low back pain that radiates out from the sacrum across the upper gluts, stopping at the hip is the result of SI joint inflammation caused by movement the joint does not like to do.

If we look at a popular movement, FORWARD BENDS if the hamstrings are locked and tight and we bend forward with the knees locked we create the perfect storm for the SI joint. Have a look at the image I have attached and see how a simple bend in the knees can be a big help.

MASSAGE CUPPING can work to un-adhere the connective tissues that surround your muscles. If forward bends are always hard for you this is most likely the problem and can lead to SI joint pain. Tight facia (connective tissue) often prevents stretching of the hamstring muscles especially in men. Once this tissue is loosened with a Massage Cupping regimen you will see a HUGE difference.
