For years, I have used my camera to photograph my body. This practice started back in high school when I took a black and white film photography class. I became fascinated by the human form and could not stop looking at it since. That early curiosity led me down paths of creativity and discovery, shaping how I see myself and others today.
Photography has been more than just an art form for me; it has been a way to connect deeply with my body and my story. Through self-portraits and capturing others, I have learned to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the human form in a positive and uplifting way. This journey has helped me embrace my complete self with kindness and joy.

Discovering the Power of the Human Form
My fascination with the human body began with black-and-white film photography. The contrast and texture of skin, the shapes created by muscles and bones, and the way light plays on the body all drew me in. This focus on the body became a creative outlet and a form of self-expression.
Studying fine art at Cooper Union deepened my understanding of form and composition. Later, working in a small photo studio in the East Village of NYC, I spent years photographing the men around me. Each session was a chance to explore identity, vulnerability, and strength through the lens.
How Photography Helps You See Your Complete Self
Taking beautiful photographs of your body can change how you view yourself. Here’s how:
Capturing moments of youth and growth
Youth is a mysterious gaze we rarely see clearly when we are in it. Photographs freeze those moments, allowing you to revisit and appreciate them as you grow.
Highlighting your unique features
Every body has its own story told through lines, curves, scars, and textures. Photography celebrates these details, helping you recognize your uniqueness.
Building confidence through self-portraits
Creating self-portraits is a powerful way to connect with yourself. It encourages self-acceptance and helps you see your body as a source of strength and beauty.
Encouraging mindfulness and presence
The process of posing and photographing requires you to be present in your body, fostering a deeper connection and awareness.
The Journey Beyond Photography: Bodywork and Healing
My journey didn’t stop at photography. Returning to school to study massage and bodywork expanded my understanding of the body beyond its appearance. It taught me about healing, touch, and the importance of caring for oneself holistically.
This combination of visual art and bodywork has been amazing. It allows me to honor the body not just as an image but as a living, breathing part of who I am.
Why You Should Consider a Photoshoot for Yourself
If you’ve never had professional photos taken of your body, I encourage you to try it. Here’s why:
It’s a celebration of you
A photoshoot is a chance to honor your body and your story in a creative and fun way.
It creates lasting memories
Beautiful images become keepsakes that remind you of your journey and growth.
It can boost your self-esteem
Seeing yourself through the lens can reveal strengths and beauty you might overlook in the mirror.
It’s a creative experience
You get to play with poses, lighting, and expression, discovering new sides of yourself.
If you’re interested in a photoshoot, I’d love to work with you. Let’s create images that celebrate your body and your story.
Holding on to the Joy of Youth and Growth
We move, we grow, and we change. Having beautiful pictures along the way is amazing because they capture the joy, the energy, and the mystery of youth and life’s transitions. These images become a visual diary of your evolving self.
Photography has been my way to dive back into those fun times, to remember and celebrate the journey. It’s a reminder that every stage of life holds its own beauty and power.
Photography is more than just taking pictures. It’s a way to see yourself fully, to embrace your body with love and respect. Whether you’re just starting your journey or have been exploring your body through art for years, having beautiful photographs can uplift and empower you.
