Let’s not forget the magic of just being together.
Last night, I had a wonderful opportunity to share massage and touch with a group of amazing men. Seven of us gathered to help one another and ourselves relax, unwind, feel our bodies deeply, and share in the magic only human-to-human touch can create.
As I delve further into my studio practice on men’s wellness, poring over podcasts and diving into books, my algorithm is bombarded daily with an overwhelming amount of information.
For those who know me—and for those who don’t—I’m a huge believer in reading between the lines and exploring the bigger picture beneath the surface noise. A theme that keeps emerging within wellness is TRAUMA; it's everywhere. I get it: we are living in traumatic times, and each of us has valid traumas that deserve respect and healing. That said, from my perspective, the constant focus on trauma needs a refocus. It’s become the new wellness buzzword, replacing gluten. Things can lose validity when you add them to every bit of human existence.
Last night, seven men connected through touch, enjoying sensation and exploring multiple levels of our physical and energetic bodies. We healed ourselves in countless ways. Each of us arrived carrying our own baggage, yet we left it at the door and made space for something better—something positive and uplifting. Massage is not therapy, even though it’s often called massage therapy. Massage is a return to your original state of being. It brings you back to a time before the world carved and molded you into the person you are today. It lets you simply be in a way nothing else I know can.
In a world obsessed with labeling and diagnosing, it’s powerful to simply gather, connect, and heal through presence and touch. Last night reminded me that we can choose to focus on what uplifts us, letting go of the narratives that hold us back. Sometimes, the simplest acts—like sharing safe, consensual touch—open the door to the deepest healing.
Let’s not forget the magic of just being together.
