MASSAGE AND TOUCH TUTORIALS

What I love most about massage and bodywork tutorials is their depth. The moment one lies on the massage table with the awareness that they are now not only receiving but also learning, things change; a door opens, and every possible human dynamic becomes a part of the experience, a path to investigate and an opertunity to learn what touch between two consenting adults can manifest. If you think about it, touch encompasses such a wide variety of human experience

Just last week, I worked with a man who has been battling cancer for the past year. The touch he has received on that journey has been, in his words, “clinical, cold, calculated.” He came to me to flip the script and rediscover touch as playful, exploratory, and reengaging. I also worked with a long-time massage partner—a term I prefer over client—to help him open up his body before a night of sensual fun. Then there was a stressed-out accountant, deep in tax season, who just needed to fade away into mindless bliss. I worked with a newcomer for a beginner session that introduced our touch dynamic for the first time, and a massage partner I hadn't seen since last fall, who wanted to refresh his touch before heading to the West Coast for a men's retreat. Each person is on a completely different touch journey. If I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that massage must be malleable, fluid, and able to move with the people I am privileged to work with.

This week, my journey continues with a two-day workshop in Lomi Lomi, a traditional Hawaiian massage modality. (I may even get laid... ha ha.) Diving in and always learning from massage is something I highly recommend to every man I work with. When you do a tutorial, massage shifts, and receiving this amazing craft becomes an opportunity to relax, reengage, and learn something about your bodies—yes, we have more than one—each time you get to the table.

I am in Montclair all fall and would love to get my hands on you or your hands on me. Massage sessions and tutorials are available.
